Curcioâ?' RBI Gives Mocs Third Straight One-Run Win

Box Score

Keith Curcio drove in Mike Snyder with the go-ahead run on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the sixth to give the Moccasins a 4-3 win over Saginaw Valley State Tuesday night at Henley Field.

The win, FSC’s third straight by one run, boosted the Moccasins’ record to 10-7.  Saginaw Valley dropped to 1-5, suffering its fifth straight loss, the last three of which have been by one run.

A unearned run in the first put the Cardinals on top.  The Moccasins took the lead in the fourth, as infield singles by Cory Jensen, T.J. Kuban and Snyder produced the tying run, then Kyle Jackson dumped a two-run single into short left field.

The Cardinals pulled even in the sixth when Kyle O’Boyle hit the team’s first home run of the season, a two-run blow that just cleared the left field fence.

Snyder led off the Moccasins’ sixth with a double to center and went to third on Austin Chubb’s single.  Curcio’s ground ball up the middle forced Chubb at second, but scored Snyder.

After Jake Guengerich started and pitched the first four innings, Austin Jackson worked the next two and picked up the win to even his record at 2-2.  Nick Krolczyk, Mike Czenszak and Nate Carter each tossed a scoreless inning, combining for six strikeouts, with Carter collecting his fourth save.  Eric Hummel went the distance for Saginaw Valley, striking out nine and walking none.

The Moccasins open a three-game weekend series against Saint Leo Friday at 7 p.m. at Henley Field.
