DAVIE â€" In one of its most dominating performance of the season, 4th-ranked Florida Southern won all 11 events against 15th-ranked Nova Southeasetern, with eight different Moccasins winning an individual race in their 160-45 victory over the Sharks. It gave Florida Southern a 3-0 record in its dual meets against other Sunshine State Conference schools, and a 6-1 record overall.
Not only did Florida Southern win every event, including both relay races, the Moccasins also took second in 10 of them. Freshman Juan Tolosa won both the 1,000-yard and 500-yard freestyle, while senior Stephen Swan, junior Robbie Swan, sophomore Luis Rojas, freshman Raul Garrastazu, sophomore Allan Gutierrez, senior Jeb Halfacre and senior Miguel Ferreira all captured one event apiece. Garrastazu also had a pair of runner-up finishes.
The Moccasins began by taking first, second and fourth in the 200-yard medley relay, led by the team of Halfacre, Ferreira, freshman Edson Lima and Robbie Swan (1:32.56). Tolosa and Garrastazu then finished 1-2 in the 1,000-yard freestyle, with each swimmer clocking an NCAA “B†cut time, and Tolosa getting the victory in 9:33.52.
Stephen Swan (winning in 1:41.68), Halfacre (.11 seconds behind) and Gutierrez (.63 seconds off the pace) took the top three spots in the 200-yard freestyle, with all three of them also getting “B†cut times as well. The Mocs took four of the top five spots in the 50-yard freestyle that followed, with Robbie Swan winning in a time of 21.40.
In the fifth event of the day, Rojas (4:07.36) and Dylan Lake were the top finishers in the 400-yard IM; and Garrastazu (1:55.87) and Ian Yext were the top swimmers in the 200-yard butterfly.

Ferreira picked up his win in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.51), and Nova Southeastern’s Oscar Aldabe was able to break Florida Southern’s stranglehold on the top two places by finishing as runner-up in that event, three seconds behind.
The Moccasins completed their sweep by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay, with junior Zach Edwards, senior Alex Peterson, Gutierrez, and Rojas doing the honors in a time of 1:23.78.
