Box Score WINTER PARK – Junior Jonathan Radvogin netted Florida Southern's first hat trick in four years, and fellow junior Cole Clingerman made seven saves in posting a shutout Florida Southern breezed to a 5-0 win over Rollins here at Barker Family Stadium on the Rollins campus.
Florida Southern's scoring began at the 33:58 mark in the first half when Carl Spansk sent a corner kick to the far side of the box where it was knocked down into the middle and controlled by Hassirou Diakite who sent a shot low to the ground past Rollins' keeper Richard Trautman for a 1-0 Florida Southern lead at 33:58 into the first half.
Radvogin turned the end of the match into his own personal highlight show, scoring three goals in the final 15 minutes of the match. His first goal came at 75:05 when he dribbled into the box and beat a Rollins defender to drive the ball past Trautman and inside the far post for the score. The Mocs' third goal was set up by Radvogin who dribbled the ball into the goal mouth that was knocked out by the Tars' keeper, but Alexi Cortez got the cleared ball and slammed it back into the goal past a fallen Trautman for the 3-0 margin.
Radvogin notched his second goal in the 88th minute, making a run into the box and beating Trautman. He then completed his hat trick with a goal coming with just 1.1 seconds left in the match on a shot from just outside the box. It was the Mocs' first hat trick since October 12, 2011 when Zach Hofstetter scored three goals in a 4-0 FSC win over Saint Leo.
Clingerman faced 19 shots but posted his second shutout in the last three games with his 7-save effort. Seven of those shots came in the closing minutes with the Mocs already holding a commanding 3-0 lead.
The five goals scored by the Mocs (3-7, 2-3 SSC) was their most in a game since Oct 9, 2013 when FSC downed Eckerd, 5-1, and the most they've ever scored in 72 all-time meetings with Rollins.
Rollins (4-5, 2-2 SSC) had a chance to get on the board with 14 minutes remaining when Clingerman was called for a foul after picking up the ball passed back to him by a teammate. Martinez took the direct free kick 15 yards from the goal, but the Mocs' defensive wall forced the ball wide of the goal. A second opportunity was wasted by Rollins when Grant Blackhurst took a shot that bounced off the crossbar and to the feet of Matt Volk who took a point blank shot that was saved by Clingerman.
Florida Southern returns home to face Lynn Saturday at 7 pm.
