Box Score WEST PALM BEACH - Logan Browning had base hits in four straight at bats and drove in a pair of runs as No. 19 Florida Southern defeated Palm Beach Atlantic, 7-2, in game one of a doubleheader here Saturday at Rubin Field. The win is the Moccasins' 16th in a row and raises the team's record to 24-6 while the Sailfish fall to 20-14.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Palm Beach Atlantic combined a Moccasin error with a single and sacrifice to grab a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first off Florida Southern starter Jake Walsh (7-1).
- The Moccasins broke on the scoreboard in the top of the third, pushing across a pair of runs on a single to center field by Jason Sierra. Cody Burgess drew a one-out walk, while Pablo Cabrera was hit by a pitch in the next at bat. Both runners moved over on a ground out with both crossing home on Sierra's base knock to center field.
- The Sailfish added a unearned run in the fifth inning to tied the score at 2-all.
- Florida Southern opened the game up with a five-run seventh innings. Mitch Reeves started the rally drawing a walk off PBA starter Sean Horner (3-2) while Jason Sierra was plunked with a pitch in the following at bat. Omar Villaman then reached on a fielding error to load the bases and Browning then doubled to left field to score Reeves and Sierra and chase Horner. Austin Mauer greeted reliever Kevin Fry with a double to right field to score Villaman and Browning with Mauer later scoring on a throwing error.
