HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Florida Southern scored the game's first goal in the 32nd minute, as junior James Meehan came streaking down the right side, forcing the Rollins keeper off his line. Meehan slid a gentle pass across to senior Jacob Ling-Vannerus who had a wide open net in front of him.
  • The second half saw Ling-Vannerus net his third goal in the last two games, as he gathered a loose ball near the center circle, and outran the young Rollins defense, and beat the keeper in a 1v1 situation in the 56th minute.
  • The Tars refused to yield, and three minutes later scored on a 20-yard strike from outside the box to cut the lead to 2-1.
  • In the 64th minute, Rollins found the equalizer on a set piece, knotting the score at two apiece.
  • The match got more physical, as fouls and cramps accumulated on both sides.
  • Late in the second half, the Mocs defense strengthened, with senior Foster Appiah blocking and deflecting several Tars shots.

  • In the first overtime session, Rollins had an opportunity in the 91st minute, but could not connect.
  • A minute later, the Mocs had their third corner kick of the match, but could not convert.
  • In the 98th minute, Ling-Vannerus took a through ball and had a 1v1 with the Rollins keeper, who made a game-saving diving save.
  • Meehan had a great opportunity in the 104th minute, but was stymied by the Rollins keeper.
