LAKELAND, Fla. - Freshman Owen Allen notched Florida Southern men's cross country's first top ten finish of the season at the FLRUNNERS.COM Invitational in Lakeland, Fla.
Allen's 28:14.2 was enough for 9th place, as he destroyed his previous collegiate best time by 1:10.6.
Warran Grajalez finished second for the Moccasins, coming in 16th place with a time of 28:25.6. Brian Martin was the third runner to finish for Southern with a time of 29:27.5, enough for 25th place. David Pautienus (29:43.8, 32nd) and Keith Kelley (32:54.6, 52nd) completed the top five for the Moccasins.
Florida Southern totaled 134 points as the team finished sixth with Saint Leo winning the meet with 43 points. Southeastern was second overall with 63 points while St. Thomas (97 pts.), Nova Southeastern (102 pts.) and the Florida Running Club (133 pts.) rounded off the top five. Lynn finished eighth with 184 points.
The Mocs primary starters will race on Sat., Sept. 28 at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. The full team will race again on Friday, Oct. 11 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.
