LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College men's cross country team returned to the NCAA Championship after a one-year hiatus and placed 19
th in the nation Saturday afternoon in Kenosha, Wis. The Moccasins were led by senior
Christian Giller who took 68
th overall while all five Moccasin scorers finished in the top-125.
Giller was the first Moccasin to cross the line as he completed the 10K championship course in 31:17.3, which ranks as the fourth-fastest 10K NCAA Championship time in program history. Only bested by Giller in 2024, Eric Walker in 2006 and Giller once again in 2023. Senior
Anthony Matthew came across next in 102
nd, just out-pacing classmate
Chris Colavita who took 103
rd. Matthew stopped the clock at 31:55.5 while Colavita came across in 31:56.7. The two times represent the 10
th and 11
th-best times in program history at the NCAA Championship. Junior
Coles Summers and sophomore
Eli Zuppa rounded out the FSC scorers as they placed near one another in 120 and 125
th, respectively. Summers was able to find the finish in 32:08.5 while Zuppa came across less than a second later at 32:09.4.
Sophomore
Andrew Nyland made his NCAA Championship debut and took 190
th in the event while turning in a time of 32:53.8. Senior
Simon DeVoss began the race and made it through 2.2K before having to withdraw.
Senior Kidus Begashaw of Adams State took the individual championship while runners from Wingate and West Texas A&M rounded out the top-three. Wingate claimed the team championship while Adams State took second and defending championship Colorado School of Mines placed third.
The Moccasins will now begin preparation for the 2025-26 Indoor Track Season which will begin in December.
