DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The Florida Southern women's golf team finished the first two rounds of play on day one of The LeeAnn Noble Memorial on Monday, standing in 8th place with a combined score of 305.

The Mocs mounted a monster comeback in the second round, rising 7 places from 15th all the way to 8th. Each woman had a better second than their first to charge up in the rankings. The ladies outperformed every team except the overall leaders, Limestone and Findlay, in the second round with their score of 286 (E).

On her first day back in the lineup after battling an illness, junior Lacey Tucker led the Mocs as she carded a score of 1-over (73) in round one. In the second round she got off to a solid start, shooting just 2-over on the front nine. However, it was her monster back nine of 2-under that secured her score of 70 to land her in a tie for 12th going into the second day. Tucker is just 8 strokes off the leaders, right in the mix for the individual victory.

The next two Mocs, Loren Perez and Nathalie Svensson, are currently locked in a tie for 30th. Perez rose 31 places after shooting 6-over on the first round followed by an extremely impressive second round of 2-under (70). Elizabeth Harding (79,71) also made big moves in the second round, rising 24 places after shooting 1-under in the second round. Rounding out the starting 5 was freshman Marissa Cardenas with a first round of 80 followed by a second round of 74, to rise 12 places.

The women are back in action tomorrow, October 11, as they try to carry their momentum from round 2 into the final day.
