DADE CITY, Fla. - The Florida Southern women's golf team finished the first two rounds of play at the Saint Leo Women's Invitational standing in 4th place with a combined score of 609 on Monday evening. 

The Mocs kept it steady heading into round two, gaining just one point from the first round. Each player ended the day tied with multiple athletes, working to secure tomorrow's competition.The ladies outperformed every team except for overall leader, University of Tampa, in the first round with their score of 304.

Florida native, Lacey Tucker led the Mocs as she carded a score of 2-over (74) in round one. In the second round she got off to a solid start, shooting just 1-over on the front nine. Keeping it consistent, Tucker shot just 1-over in round two that secured her score of 74 placing her in a tie with fellow teammate, Loren Perez, for 5th going into the second day. Tucker and Perez are a close 8 strokes off the leader, a solid set-up for these women as they hit the course tomorrow.

Rounding out the top five was freshmen, Marissa Cardenas ending the day shooting a solid 1-under (78) on the front nine of round two. Cardenas ties for 20th place along with several other athletes heading into day two. Senior Nathalie Svensson (76,81) coming out even on the front nine of round one (76) ends the day in a tie for 25th. Finishing out the top five for the Mocs is Elizabeth Harding who shot a 78 in the first round and finished the day with an 81 for a tied for 31st. 

Sophomore Margaux Bonafe (85, 76) led FSC individually  with a first round of 85 followed by a comeback second round of 76, to rise 15 places for a tie in tied for 38th. Also competing individually was Gaby Shortridge and Brianna Farrell. Shortridge finished the day with a tied for 51st followed by Farrell shooting a 168 for a tie in 55th. 

The women are back in action tomorrow, October 19, as they seek to build up their momentum from round two into the final day.
