Southern Men's Swimming Earns Two Dominating Victories Against Tampa

LAKELAND, FLA. – The Florida Southern men's swimming team picked up two dominating victories over the University of Tampa, by scores of 101-29 and 101-28. All 14 events between Friday's two meets saw the Mocs hit the touchpad first.

HOW IT HAPPENED

MEET 1:

• The Mocs opened the meet by taking 13 of the opening 17 points in the 200 medley relay.
• Making his collegiate debut freshman Kyriakos "Keith" Peristeridis made splash as he cruised to a first place finish in the 1000 free with a time of 9:34.86. His time was 13.48 seconds faster than teammate Cole Smith who placed second. This would secure a lead for the Mocs that they would never let Tampa attempt to gain.
• The Southern trio of Brandon Dyck, Cameron Lai-Harris, and Matias Lopez swept the 100 back claiming 16 of the possible 18 points.   
• Florida Southern claimed victories in all seven events.

MEET 2:

• The second meet of the day began just as the first with an FSC victory as freshman Kyle Micallef placed first in the 100 free with a 45.73 time as senior Carlos Bernotti in third with a time of 46.43.
• Distance is proving to be Peristeridis' strong suit as he claimed a narrow victory in the 500 free with a time of 4:38.12 as he was just a head of teammate Elder Oliveira's 4:40.35 time.
• Florida Southern once again took victories in all seven events.
