Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Florida Southern College baseball team dropped the first game of the series against the Barry Buccaneers on Thursday night, by a final of 9-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mocs stuck first, as Connor Berry, who was making his first career start at first base, drove in centerfielder Vaun Brown to give the Mocs an early lead.
- Barry struck back, scoring one in their half of the first.
- FSC would open things up with a four-run third inning, as two-way player Collin Camarigg, making his first appearance as a position player, drove in Ahmad Fitts on an infield single. Next, Berry once again drove in Brown, this time on a sacrifice fly. Shortstop Cade Shissler then drove in another two runs with a homer to left center.
- Brown would drive in Fitts in the fourth, as he has now scored or driven in a run in all but one game this season.
- Barry would add runs in the fourth and fifth innings, as they chipped away at the Mocs lead.
- Left fielder Nick Wells blasted a solo home run in the sixth, his second of the season.
- The Bucs would take their first lead of the game as they scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh.
- FSC failed to answer as the Mocs would drop the game by a final of 9-8.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- With the loss, FSC fell to 10-7 (9-6 SSC) and Barry improved to 10-7 (8-5 SSC)
- FSC leads the all-time series 79-27.
- Connor Berry extended his hit streak to 10 games.
