MCCORMICK, S.C. - The Florida Southern women's golf team is currently tied for 8th place after day one of the two-day Savannah Lakes Invitational hosted by Lander University at Monticello Golf course in McCormick, S.C.
In their second tournament of the year, the Southern women had an excellent showing, shooting a combined 306. This score ties the Mocs for 8th place with host, Lander, against 19 other Division II teams.
The Mocs were led by Senior
Elizabeth Harding, who shot a 74 just 2 strokes over par. The performance ties Harding for 17th place with several other athletes.
Just one place behind Harding is sophomore
Loren Perez. The Polk county native shot an impressive 75 on the day to put her in 25th place individually. Marissa Cardebas was only a few strokes back with a score of 78. Closing out the team was
Nathalie Svensson and
Abigail Stetz who both put up a score of 79.
Individually,
Margaux Bonafe finished with a score of 80 to add a layer of depth to this already strong team.
Day two of the Savannah Lakes Invitational tees off tomorrow, September 28. With first tee set for 8:00 am.
