  • The Florida Southern men will host its first home meet of the 2022-23 season after cheering on the women's team in their home meet a couple of weeks ago. Last weekend, the Mocs participated in the Shark Invitational, hosted by Nova Southeastern University, and placed second out of six teams behind the University of Tampa. The defending SSC Champions will look to improve their reps and preparation against a good Rollins team. Florida Southern men's team was highlighted with first-place finishes for Brandon Wilson (100 Back) and Matteo Zampese (100 breast).
  • Despite losing six seniors to graduation, the defending Sunshine State Conference champions look forward to another big year for many returners, including six NCAA qualifiers from last year's squad. Zampese highlights the 2022-23 Moccasin roster, who returns after a great SSC and NCAA Championship run in the breaststroke and relay competitions. Zampese, also named a CoSIDA Academic All-American, had five All-American honors at the NCAA finals, including a fifth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke. At the SSC Championships, Zampese won the 200 IM, and top three finishes in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and 2100 freestyle. The All-SSC First Team winner set several school records and helped the men's team place fifth overall at the NCAA Championships, the best finish since the 2017-18 season.
  • In short-distance events, the Mocs return Kyle Micallef, an All-SSC Second Team selection and FSC record holder in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Micallef placed eighth in the NCAA 50 free finals and finished with six All-American honors. The Melbourne, Australia native has continued to impress the field and set a new SSC record in the 50 free last season with a time of 19.59. Senior Elder Oliveira, an All-SSC First Team selection last year will cover many of the mid-distance events for the Mocs, after five All-American honors at the NCAA finals and a fantastic 2021-22 season to help the Mocs win the SSC Championship and a fifth-place finish at NCAA Championships.
  • The Rollins men will have its first meet of the 2022-23 season against the Mocs. Junior Harold Lockhart leads the men's team, after winning two NCAA titles in last year's championships. Lockhart was named the SSC Swimmer of the Year for his accolades and became the first Tar to be named First Team All SSC last year. Rollins had a program-best fourth-place finish at the SSC Championships last year and Chance Ricca was named to the Honorable Mention All-SSC team.
  • The Florida Southern women will have their second home meet of the season after opening the year against the University of Arkansas. At the Shark Invitational, FSC women finished third of six teams. On day one of the meet, Erin McCann had top ten finishes in the 400 medley relay, 400 free, and 200 free relay. Day two of the meet was highlighted by Olivia Miles with top-eight finishes in the 1000 free and 400 IM. In the 200 free, McCann finished 10th in the 200 free, with Maja Eriksson right behind in 11th.
  • Last season the Mocs had their best season in recent years and return many from last year's squad, having only graduated three student-athletes. Each of the seven NCAA Championship qualifiers from the 2022 season returns after placing 26th at the NCAA finals, the best finish under Robins. Junior Jazzy Hoffmann is one of those qualifiers, with a great performance throughout the year, including an SSC Swimmer of the Week selection. Hoffmann led the Mocs in sprints last season qualifying for the 50 and 100 freestyle NCAA events, breaking school records along the way. The Atlanta, Ga. native was an All-SSC First Team selection, SSC 100 free champion, and earned three All-American honors last season.
  • Florida Southern women's team finished third at the 2021-22 SSC Championships behind many great performances by veterans of FSC swimming. Allie Brinton, a junior from Jacksonville, Fla., qualified for the NCAA finals her freshman year and was one of the selections for relays in the NCAA finals last season. Rachel Cunningham, Anya Bogdanova, Janie Davis, and Maja Eriksson are returning sophomores joining Angelina Fazzino, Genevieve Kennedy, Molly Kennedy, Alizee Pelletier, and Kennidi TenEyck as last year's freshman class. Brooke Brennan, Morgan Champagne, Hoffmann, Michalek, Peck, and Stephanie Suarez represent this year's junior class. to Seniors on the team joining McCann include Annalise Eisold, Morgan Misenar, and Masha Rezhylo.
  • The Rollins women will also have its first meet of the 2022-23 season against the Mocs. A similar story for the women as the men, the Tars placed fifth at the SSC Championships and were led by Beatriz Olivieri, in her third NCAA Championship appearance. Olivieri was also named Second Team All-SSC, the first such award of her career. Despite losing Olivieri to graduation, the Tars are still a strong contender in the SSC and consistently nationally ranked.
  • HISTORY: Both the men's and women's teams have faced the Tars several times over the course of dual meets and post-season competition. On the women's side, the Mocs have won eight straight meets against the Tars, with the men only meeting the Mocs twice, both wins for Florida Southern. Despite the different dual meets versus postseason competition in a large pool of teams, Florida Southern and Rollins will remain a great rivalry.
