TAMPA, Fla. – Sophomore
Julia Svartstrom led a group of four Moccasins as the Florida Southern women's cross country team sent a small contingent to the USF Invite Friday evening. Svartstrom was the first Moc to cross the finish line as she took 43
rd overall in the event.
Svarstrom stopped the clock at 21:16.6 over the 5K course. Freshman
Caitlin Beery was the next to finish for FSC as she completed the distance in 21:45.8 to take 54
th. Sophomore
Emily Opalinski finished just 15 seconds later at 22:00.8 to earn 66
th place. The final FSC competitor was sophomore
Chloe Hacker who placed 73
rd overall with a time of 22:26.0.
NCAA Division I member Stetson took home the team championship with 44 total points followed by Florida Gulf Coast (57) and Florida Atlantic (57). Due to only sending four runners to the event the Moccasins did not register a team score.
The Mocs will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 22 as they travel to the UAH Charger Invite in Huntsville, Ala.
