NEW ORLEANS – The Florida Southern College women's cross country team along with six individuals were recognized for their success in the classroom as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) selected 127 NCAA Division II women's teams for their 2025 All-Academic Team honors while 318 individuals were honored as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.
The Florida Southern runners named All-Academic Athletes included three-time honoree junior
Grace Reed, second-time honoree junior
Emma Pfeiffer, and first time honorees freshman
Reagan Chambless, sophomore
Nika Gividen, senior
Rachel Hockenberry, and sophomore
Heloise Pinto.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
The Florida Southern women posted a 3.66 GPA. FSC was one of just seven programs from the state of Florida to receive the honor including Barry (3.37 GPA), Embry-Riddle (3.68 GPA), Flagler (3.43 GPA), Palm Beach Atlantic (3.48 GPA), Tampa (3.26 GPA) and West Florida (3.77 GPA), .
Grand Valley State was named the 2025 NCAA DII Women's Cross Country National Scholar Team of the Year. The Lakers maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.74 during a season in which they won the team title at the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships in Kenosha, Wisconsin. This is the second time in the past three years – and eighth time overall – that GVSU has been named National Scholar Team of the Year, adding to its honors in 2010, 2012-14, 2016, 2018, and 2023.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
Tristian Spence of Adams State was named the 2025 NCAA DII Women's Cross Country National Scholar Athlete of the Year. Spence maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.29 during a season in which she won the individual title at the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Chambless, Gividen, Hockenberry, Pfeiffer, Pinto and Reed led the Mocs to a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Division II South Region Championship. Reed led the way individually among this group with an 18
th-place showing.
