LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College women's basketball fell 81-64 against Truman State University in their first game of the Mocs Christmas Classic. 
 
The Mocs move to 7-3 overall, while the Bulldogs improve to 8-4 on the season.
 
Throughout the first half, Florida Southern competed fiercely with Truman State as senior 
Domenica Zamora put up ten points in the half. The Mocs battled back from a 14-4 hole at the beginning of the first quarter to tie things up at 18-18 to end the frame. In the final three minutes of the quarter, the Mocs went on an unbelievable 11-0 run to force themselves back into contention. 
 
Momentum shifted in the second quarter to a lot more back-and-forth basketball that slightly favored the Bulldogs. In the final seconds of the quarter, however, Zamora knocked down a shot from beyond the arch to bring it within four going into the locker room, 39-35 with Truman State on top.
 
The Bulldogs posted a massive offensive effort in the third quarter that allowed them to extend a 70-44 lead. The Mocs battled back in the fourth quarter, but too much damage had been done in the third. Despite outscoring the Bulldogs 20-11 in the fourth the Mocs were not able cut their deficit down and fell 81-64.  
 
Zamora led the way for FSC just one rebound shy of a double-double as finished with 15 points and nine boards. 
Ashley Shell put up 10 points followed by 
Sydney Gomes with nine points. Shell defensively came down with four boards and four steals while 
Anna Denes finished with eight rebounds.
