SAINT LEO, Fla. - Florida Southern softball ended its Sunshine State Conference opening series at Saint Leo with two devastating losses as the Mocs fell in game one 8-4 before dropping the final game 7-0.
FSC moved to 6-6 on the year and started conference play with a 0-3 early start.

The Mocs attacked first in the top of the third when
Lane Edgington hit a sacrifice fly to score
Destiny Colgate and make it 1-0. In the bottom of the inning the Lions took the lead off two passed balls for a 2-1 advantage.
Immediately after in the top of the fourth
Kelsey Peck and
Jadyn Bushnell scored after reaching on walks. The two-run RBI would go to
Myah Moy with a single to make it 3-2. Southern continued their momentum scoring another insurance run on a Saint Leo error to end the inning with a 4-2 lead.
The Lions bats came to life in the bottom of the sixth scoring six runs to capture the second win in the series and first in the doubleheader.
Moy led the way going 2-for-4 from the plate with two RBI.

FSC came in with hot bats to start off the game with a single from
Maddi Conner and Colgate but the Mocs were unable to plate a run.
The bats were quiet for Southern in the top of the second allowing Saint Leo to capitalize with a 1-0 lead. The Mocs went down in order until
Kiki Morris singled but was stranded at first. At the bottom of the fifth, the Lions picked up four runs to take a 5-0 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Saint Leo added to its lead to make it 7-0 as FSC needed to make something happen to stay alive.
Victoria Rodriguez came in to pinch hit getting on with a single but was stranded to finish the game.

Florida Southern returns home on Friday, February 25 to host Barry in another Sunshine State Conference game with a single game at 7:00 pm followed by the doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
