MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – No. 21 Florida Southern women's golf opened the BarryU Women's Invitational with two rounds Monday on the par-72, 6,020-yards on the Senator Course at Shula's Golf Club at Miami Lakes. The Moccasins opened with rounds of 302 and 304, respectively, to finish day one at 606 (+30) and in fifth place out of the 13-team field.  

The Moccasins kicked off the tournament with a 302 (+14) and followed that up with a 304 (+16) to head into the final round in fifth place. Loren Perez is pacing the Mocs sitting in fourth place at three-over on a windy day on the course. Perez opened with a 74 and followed with a 73 to comprise her two-round total.  

Lacey Tucker, Nathalie Svensson, and Elizabeth Harding all finished day one inside the top half of the field. Tucker, who is in 13th place out of the 77 player field, shot identical rounds with a 74 and 75 for her 151 (+7) 36-hole total.  

Emilie Bjorge (Tampa) is the clubhouse leader heading into Tuesday's final round at even-par, 144, following back-to-back rounds of even-par. The host, No. 5 Barry, is holding a three-stroke lead over no. 15 Tampa 592-595. The Buccaneers shaved strokes off their first-round 298 for a second-round 294.

The Moccasins return to action Tuesday morning for the third and final round in Miami Lakes at the BarryU Invitational at Shula's Golf Club with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
