WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Florida Southern College baseball team fought to extra innings but outlasted by No. 9 Rollins College to a score of 2-1 Friday afternoon at the Alfond Stadium.
The Mocs (16-15, 7-6 SSC) tied the game at one in the top of the sixth, but unable to get on base toward the end. The Tars (23-7, 9-4 SSC) hit a walk-off homer by Parker Smith in the bottom of the 12
th inning to give Rollins the 2-1 victory.
Florida Southern started the first inning with a big double by
Nathan Chevalier, but he was left on as Rollins escaped any earned runs. Both teams traded scoreless innings as
Nathan Madej controlled the mound with five strikeouts in his five innings. The Mocs had a chance in the top of the fourth with two walks but were again unable to come out with a run.
The Tars were first to score with an RBI single by Rubin in the bottom of the fifth, but the Mocs were quick to respond with a run of their own in the top of the sixth to tie the game at one apiece.
Connor Berry was first on base with a big double down the left field line, which allowed
Jared DeSantolo to score the RBI single and bring Berry home.
Mitchell LeRoy came in to relieve Madej and left two Rollins players on base to keep the score even, leading to
Collin Camarigg to do the same striking out one in his inning.
Ryan Langford game in the bottom of the ninth with two on base and no outs. A great job by Langford in the ninth as he led the Mocs into extra innings and leave the Tars at first and third with the 1-1 score.
A tough battle for both teams in extra innings as they traded scoreless rotations, until the bottom of the 12
th saw Smith with the walk off homer to win the game for the Tars with a 2-1 score.

Due to inclement weather tomorrow, the Mocs move the series to a doubleheader on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. at Alfond Stadium. Due to construction, fans will need to bring their own chairs for viewing.
