LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College softball team fell in their final game of a three-game series against Embry-Riddle on Thursday evening. The Mocs close out their home portion of the 2022 season with a 2-0 decision.
The loss brings the Mocs' record to 18-26 overall and 7-20 in Sunshine State Conference.
Kiki Morris and
Kelsey Peck recorded two hits each, and the Mocs racked up six total hits in the game.
Florida Southern held the Eagles scoreless through four innings. In that time they gained some traction against the Eagles but were unable to convert it into a run. In the bottom of the third,
Jadin Dewith was able to get down a sacrifice bunt which advanced
Jadyn Bushnell to second. Morris stepped up to the plate next and slipped a ball in between the shortstop and second baseman as Bushnell ran to third. Then, Morris stole second to put two Mocs in scoring position, but FSC was unable to convert the solid rally into a run.
Destiny Colgate started the bottom of the fourth with a double that went all the way to the warning track.
Myah Moy was the next Moc to get on base with a hard-hit single that advanced to second on a wild throw from an Eagles fielder. Colgate advanced to third on the hit, but again, the Mocs were unable to score off the rally.
Embry-Riddle took the lead with a big fifth inning that included three hits and two runs. The Mocs tried to answer as both Morris and Peck got bunts down to get on base. Peck recorded another single in the final inning in a final attempt to gain some momentum.

Mel Rogers pitched a complete game striking out five batters.

The Mocs travel to Fort Lauderdale to play their final series of the year against Nova Southeastern on May 5 and 6. The first pitch is set for 6:00 PM.
