  • Florida Southern return to Lakeland after a successful first road trip of the 2022 campaign. The Mocs dominated in a 6-0 win over Spring Hill College. Freshman Alison Jenkins scored two goals in the match, as Caitlyn Lowery, Anita Vera, Morgan Collica, and Claire DuRee each had one. Florida Southern outshot the Badgers 14-to-two, with one shot on goal by Spring Hill that was stopped by freshman Heidi Harris. The Mocs carried the momentum into Sunday afternoon's battle with West Florida, then registering votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll, in a massive 1-0 win over the Argos. Just the third win against West Florida, the game winner came from Angelina Coelho, her first collegiate goal, off a free kick just outside the box. Jenny Staten took keeper duties in the match, where she shutout the Argos with two saves, while facing 17 shots.
  • The Mocs have a boost of attack to start the season, averaging 14.8 shots a game, compared to 7.3 by their opponent. Jenkins leads the Mocs with two goals, with seven total goal scorers for the Mocs this season. Despite a young roster at forward, Florida Southern showed great poise under leadership of Caitlyn Lowery and veteran midfielders or defensive players. Facing their first conference opponent this season, offensive attack and consistency will be key for the Mocs.
  • Florida Southern continues to rotate goalie duties as Meghan Kriney with three starts. Harris appeared in the second half of the match against the Badgers with one save. Staten got the start for the West Florida game where she faced 17 shots and two saves. After a scoreless first, Nova dominated the second half with 23 shots in the last 45 and both of their goals within the last five minutes of the game. King had 13 saves, 11 which came in the second half, but unable to hold off the Sharks. Nova followed up their first game with a 1-1 tie against Carson-Newman. After an early goal by Jordyn Pitter, Carson-Newman equalized in the 72nd minute to keep the game a 1-1 score.
  • The Sharks average 18.5 shots a game, compared to just nine from their opponents. Despite three goals, to the Mocs eight, Grabias leads the Sharks with a goal and one assist in just two games.
