ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Southern College volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday at the South Region Crossover in Orlando, Fla. The Moccasins fell in their opening match 3-0 to No. 15 West Florida before taking down Mississippi College 3-1 in the nightcap.

The split moves FSC's record to 13-7 while the nationally-ranked Argonauts improved to 17-5 while the Choctaws of Mississippi fell to 9-11.

In the victory of the Choctaws, the Mocs were led by senior
Mackenzie Petermann who posted a team-best 17 kills while also digging up 16 balls for her 26
th career double-double. She also took care of business at the net where she registered a pair of blocks including one solo. Graduate student
Elena Djokovic chipped in 15 kills and a team-best 18 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. The transfer also added a pair of block assists.

Zoe Lowe added eight kills while classmate
Kiersten Kraus chipped in seven. Kraus nearly pulled off another triple-double as she tallied 19 assists and 13 digs in the victory for her 12
th double-double of the year.

Caroline Chambers dug up 15 balls from the backrow while freshman setter
Mary Kate Mulvaney posted 23 assists and 11 digs for her sixth double-double of the year.

The Mocs hit .220 in the match while holding Mississippi to .133. The Mocs won the first, second and fourth sets including 25-22, 25-15 and 25-18 while the Choctaws won the third set 25-16.

In the opening match of the day, the Mocs fell 3-0 to No. 15 West Florida. The Mocs struggled to get the offense rolling as Petermann led the team with eight kills and five digs. The senior also had eight hitting errors to finish with a .000 hitting percentage.

Lowe chipped in seven kills while Djokovic and Fowler each had six. The Mocs hit just .165 as a team while the Argonauts did not do much better at .174. Mulvaney led the Mocs with 15 assists while also grabbing five digs while Kraus chipped in 13 assists and five digs as well. Chambers led the backline with 14 digs.

The Argonauts won in straight-sets, 25-21, 25-17 and 25-23.

The Mocs will return to action Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. as they host Barry in their annual Dig for Diabetes match.
