LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 20 Florida Southern College men's tennis team had an incredible 7-0 victory over Bentley University Thursday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Mocs (12-3), who moved up to 20
th in the latest ITA poll announced yesterday, shut out the Falcons for FSC's ninth-straight match win. The Falcons fell to 1-3 on the spring season and end their Florida spring break trip.
Florida Southern had a dominating performance in the doubles competition as No. 6 pairing of
Matteo Feggi and
Chris Fok Kow won 6-2 at court #1, their 10
th match win in a row as a pairing. At the #2 position,
Mario Garoz and
Ryan Rajakar won 7-6 (7-4) in a battle with their Bentley opponent. At the last court,
Alex Fascio and
Danny Thomas handled business with a 6-2 win.
Similar story in singles, as the Mocs won every court in two sets. Fok Kow had a 6-2, 6-4 win at the #1 spot as
Inaki Braun Simo had a 6-1 set one win and a tough 7-6 (7-5) victory at the #2 court. Garoz and
Elliott Altman had great wins with a 6-0, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-3 score respectively. Fascio had a 6-3, 7-5 win at #4 spot and
Edoardo Melindo earned his first singles victory of the season with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) court six win.
The Mocs will stay at home to face Washburn University on Monday, March 20, set for a 3 p.m. start after a reschedule from the previous date of March 19. The match will take place at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
