WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. - The Florida Southern College softball team dropped its first game of the Sunshine State Conference series against Palm Beach Atlantic with a 5-0 loss on Friday evening.
The Moccasins fall to 16-18 on the season and 5-11 in the SSC, while the Sailfish improve to 12-16 on the year and 5-11 in the conference.
Florida Southern had the first hit of the game when junior
Kiki Morris singled to left field but was forced out in a double play by PBA in the top of the first. The Sailfish were able to use the momentum from the defensive end in the top of the inning, scoring two runs on a 2-RBI double to take an early 2-0 lead.
The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the fourth when the Sailfish scored three insurance runs on another double to make it 5-0.
In the top of the seventh, senior
Jessica Bryson stepped in to pinch hit for the Mocs and singled through the left side to open the inning trying to get a rally going for FSC. Bryson was left stranded at first to conclude the opening game 5-0 in favor of PBA.

FSC returns to face PBA tomorrow afternoon with a doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
