LAKELAND, Fla. – Former Florida Southern College men's basketball star
Dylan Travis is one of four members of the United States of America's 3X3 team which began competition at the FIBA 3X3 World Cup in Austria this morning. Travis joins some familiar names from the basketball world on the team including former BYU standout Jimmer Fredette, former College of Charleston and University of Florida product Canyon Barry and former Princeton forward Kareem Maddox.

Olympics.com, will see 20 men's and 20 women's teams battle it under the might of Vienna's City Hall (Rathaus) for the chance to be named World champions. If the stakes weren't already high enough this year's tournament results will also play a role in the qualification process for Paris 2024 with tickets for the second, cup-based Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQTs) taking place next year up for grabs. Serbia, a five-time world champion, looks to defend its 2022 crown.

USA is competing in Pool B which includes Latvia, Austria, Slovenia and Australia. The team is scheduled to face Latvia tomorrow at 11:10 a.m. (EST) before taking on Australia at 1:20 p.m. Travis and his teammates will return to action Friday, June 2 versus Slovenia at 1:20 p.m. before facing their final pool test versus the hosts Austria at 3:20 p.m. Â The play-in contests as well as the quarterfinals will take place on Saturday, June 3 with the semifinals and finals scheduled for Sunday, June 4. The top finishing team in each pool advances straight to the quarterfinals while the second and third place teams have to play a play-in contest in order to advance to the quarterfinals.

USA did not finish among the top-three teams in 2022 as Serbia took home the crown followed by Lithuania and France in second and third, respectively. No championship was held in both 2021 and 2020 but the United States finished atop the standings at the 2019 event as the Americans topped Latvia (2
nd) and Poland (3
rd).

Travis spent two seasons with the Florida Southern men's basketball program including helping the Mocs secure the 2015 NCAA National Championship. He was the second-leading scorer in the 2015 National Championship game as he scored 18 points off the bench while going 6-of-9 from the field including 4-of-6 from three. The guard averaged 15.3 points per game over his two seasons and finished just 69 points shy of 1,000 after scoring 414 as a junior and 517 as a senior. He shot 44.5 percent from the field including 37.2 percent from three while connecting on 107 career 3-pointers. He is one of just five players in FSC history to record a triple-double as he finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a victory over Miles during the 2015-16 season.
