Crowder Unveils Volleyball’s 2023 Campaign

LAKELAND, Fla. – First-year head coach Ashlee Crowder of the Florida Southern College volleyball team announced the 2023 schedule for the program Thursday morning (July 13). The schedule features 13 home contests and 17 road matchups including a trip to the University of Indianapolis for an early season tournament as well as the annual South Region Crossover, which will be held in Orlando, Fla. The Moccasins will be hosting the FSC Volleyball Classic to open the 2023 campaign and will take on three quality opponents to open the season.

"We are extremely excited for our upcoming schedule," said coach Crowder. "We have scheduled a very competitive and tough first weekend, and we are looking forward to a fun trip to UIndy the second weekend. These two quality fields will hopefully get us prepared for our extremely tough conference schedule. We are counting down the days until our season begins."

The Moccasins open the 2023 campaign on Sept. 1 against in-state foe Flagler who advanced to the 2022 NCAA Southeast Region final. FSC will then face Washburn who went 24-8 last season including winning the MIAA Championship Tournament before falling in the opening round on the NCAA Central Region Championship. The Mocs will wrap up their opening tournament against perennial power Grand Valley State who boasts one National Championship (2005) and nine Regional Championships in its history. The Lakers advanced to the GLIAC Tournament Championship match falling to Ferris State in five sets.

FSC will take on four teams including the host Greyhounds. The Mocs will open up against Central State and UIndy on the opening day, Sept. 8, before taking on McKendree and Notre Dame College to close out action in the Hoosier State.

Crowder will bring her team back to Lakeland to open up Sunshine State Conference play at home with an opening weekend pairing with Saint Leo and Tampa on Sept. 15-16. The opening SSC roadtrip will take place the following weekend as the Mocs travel to Lynn and Barry.

The first midweek contest of the season will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 26 as Eckerd visits George W. Jenkins Field House. FSC will remain home to welcome in Palm Beach Atlantic and Nova Southeastern Sept. 29-30.

The Mocs will close out the opening half of conference play with trips to Rollins (Oct. 6), Florida Tech (Oct. 7) and Tampa (Oct. 10) and a home contest with Embry-Riddle (Oct. 13). The GSC/SSC South Region Crossover will take place Oct. 20-21 in Orlando, Fla. as the Mocs will face a trio of opponents from the Gulf South Conference.

FSC closes out October with a pair of home contests versus Barry (Oct. 27) and Lynn (Oct. 28) before a road contest at Eckerd (Oct. 31) on Halloween. The road swing will continue as the Mocs open up November at Nova Southeastern (Nov. 3) and Palm Beach Atlantic (Nov. 4). The final home weekend of the regular season will take place Nov. 10-11 as the Mocs host Florida Tech and Rollins.
