Mocs Start Strong at UCF Knights Invite

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Southern men's track team sent a small contingent to Orlando Friday night to open up action at the UCF Knights Invite. FSC competed in three events under the lights as Anthony Matthew earned the top finish by an NCAA Division II student-athlete in the 1500m. A pair of Moccasins also earned top-10 finishes in the steeplechase to highlight the evening.

TOP PERFORMERS

• Sophomore Anthony Matthew led the way in the opening event of the evening for the Mocs as he and freshman Cole Summers represented the Mocs in the 1500m. Matthew was the top non-NCAA Division I runner as he crossed the line in 11^th with the second fastest time of the season for both the team and Matthew at 3:51.61. The mark also ranks ninth in the FSC record book in the 1500m. Summers posted the ninth best time this season by a Moc as he stopped the clock at 4:06.33 to place 36^th.
• Sophomore Caleb Brady and freshman Dillon Mantei took part in the 3,000m steeplechase as the pair finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Brady crossed the finish in 9:46.22 for the top time for the program this season while Mantei clocked in at 9:51.12 for the second fastest time this season.
• The final event of the evening for the Mocs was the 5,000m as freshman Declan Ziomek shaved nine seconds off his previous best this season as he crossed the finish in 15:48.92 to take 16^th overall.
