Travis Concludes Play at the 2024 Paris Olympics in 3x3 Basketball Pool Play

PARIS, France – Team USA's dreams of competing for a medal ended in pool play after going 2-5 overall with wins over France, the host of the 2024 Olympics, and China. Florida Southern alumnus Dylan Travis '15 helped the group of Jimmer Fredette, Canyon Barry, and Kareem Maddox fight to the end.

Travis posted 25 points and 21 rebounds over the seven games where he averaged 3.6 points per game on 40-percent shooting inside the arc and 31-percent from 2-point territory. The 6'4 Omaha, Neb. native hauled in 3.0 rebounds per game at the games.

Ranked No. 2 in FIBA 3x3, Team USA opened the games against the top team in the world, Serbia, and fell 22-14. Travis scored two points and grabbed three rebounds in his first Olympic games. After a late night, the team recovered and then took on Poland, falling by just two, 19-17 where Travis posted six points and two rebounds in the loss.

With two games slated for the third day of competition, the Red, White, and Blue found themselves shorthanded as Jimmer Fredette suffered a leg injury in the game against Poland, which left Team USA down a player of the four-man squad, for the remainder of the tournament.

Travis scored 10 points and grab 10 rebounds over the two games on August 1, but the team suffered two heartbreaking close losses, 20-18 to Lithuania and 21-19 to Lativa, who was sitting atop the leaderboard at the time undefeated.

With three games to go in pool play, and at the bottom of the table vying to reach the play in games, Team USA finally broke through and defeated the host nation, France, 21-19 behind a huge performance from Canyon Barry who scored 16 points. Travis added two points and three rounds in the win.

With another game scheduled for later that day, Team USA then knocked off China to stand at 2-6 in play with a 21-17 win over China. Travis added three points, and one rebound in the win, but it was Barry again who tallied 14 points in the win guiding the team to another victory. Kareem Maddox hauled in 10 rebounds to lead all players and match China's total.

Entering the final game of play in fifth place in the table, it was a do or die situation for Team USA against Netherlands. Exhaustion and fatigue caught up to Travis, Barry, and Maddox as the three have been going at it 3-on-4 for the past five games over three days of play.

Against the Netherlands, each player, Travis, Barry, and Maddox, each scored two points in the loss falling 21-6. Travis finished the game with two points and two rebounds.
