MELBOURNE, Fla. — Florida Southern College women's soccer (7-1-4, 3-1-3 SSC) and (RV) Florida Tech (7-2-5, 3-1-3 SSC) played to a 1-1 draw at Rick Stottler Field, with
Carly Brodsky making 11 saves to help secure the result.
The first half began with Florida Tech pressing early, but Brodsky's goalkeeping was pivotal in maintaining a clean sheet. Brodsky made crucial saves against shots by Alice Mottershead and Savannah Oxley to keep the Panthers off the scoreboard.
Florida Southern took the lead in the 27th minute when
Jamie Klein scored, assisted by
Sierra Spirk. The goal shifted momentum, allowing the Mocs to apply more pressure.
Jasmin Adames had a chance to extend the lead, but her shot was saved by Kaitlin Sinkler of Florida Tech. The half concluded with the Mocs leading 1-0.
The second half began with the Panthers applying pressure through multiple shots on goal, but Brodsky's saves kept FSC in contention. Klein and Adames tested Florida Tech's defense with shots of their own, though they were denied by goalkeeper Sinkler.
As the half progressed, Brodsky continued to be pivotal, stopping several attempts, including efforts from Lauryn Wood and Sara Batchadji. Despite Florida Southern's defensive efforts, Ada Geier of the Panthers found the back of the net in the 83rd minute, leveling the score at 1-1.
The Mocs sought to regain the lead, with
Maddie Ladish taking a late shot, but the half concluded without additional goals. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Brodsky recorded a career-high 11 saves during the match, the most saves by a Moccasin goalkeeper since 2017. Klein scored once, contributing the team's only goal. Spirk added an assist, setting up a crucial play in the game. Adames registered two shots on goal, applying consistent pressure on the opposing defense.
Geier scored the only goal for the Panthers, and Wood led the team with five shots, with two of those on target. Mia Otero and Batchadji also made an impact, each attempting five shots. Sinkler in goal tallied three saves, facing six shots and conceding one.
In their next game, Florida Southern will travel to Fort Lauderdale to face Nova Southeastern University. The match is set for Saturday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. at the NSU Soccer Complex.
