Moccasin Baseball Ranked #12 in Latest NCBWA Top 25 Poll

First appearance in the NCBWA top 25 poll since 2023 season

WINGATE, N.C. – After a 6-1 start to the 2025 season, the Florida Southern College baseball team surged into the top 25 of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) top 25 poll.

The first in-season NCBWA top 25 poll of the year, the Moccasins came in at No. 12, the biggest jump by a team not ranked in the preseason poll. The last time the Mocs were in the top 25 of the NCBWA poll was March 16 when FSC baseball was ranked No. 19. The highest in recent history was No. 5 during the 2020 season after an 8-2 start to the season. The University of Tampa remains No. 1 in the NCBWA poll, with Barry and Embry-Riddle both receiving votes to represent the Sunshine State Conference.

Florida Southern, a nine-time national championship program, opened the season with a 2-1 series win over then No. 14 West Florida and a series sweep of Georgia Southwestern this past weekend. FSC then had a 12-2 win over Eckerd last night. Head coach Rick O'Dette, in his first season with the Mocs, has elevated the program to new heights and most recently ranked No. 24 according to D2 Baseball.

As a team, the Moccasins rank in the top 25 of several categories among NCAA Division II, including first in doubles plays (11) and third in double plays per game (1.57). The Mocs ranked fifth in sacrifice flies (7), eighth in triples (4), ninth in stolen bases (24), and 10th in stolen bases per game (3.43). FSC also ranks 22nd in DII in ERA (3.63).

Individual players with national recognition include Jevin Relaford, the nation's leader in stolen bases with 12 in 2025. He also ranks 10th in total runs with 13. Colby Rice leads the SSC and is third in the NCAA in saves with three, and Ahmad Fitts is one of the best in the NCAA in home runs with three (all in last night's win over Eckerd). Mikey Scott leads the team in batting average, batting .500, and Sachem Ramos leads FSC starters with a 0.90 ERA and two wins.

The Mocs will host USC Beaufort this weekend in a three-day, three-game series from Feb. 14-16. FSC will also have Champions Weekend welcoming back baseball alumni and a ceremony celebrating the anniversaries of the 1975, 1985, 1995, and 2005 national championship teams.
