WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Florida Southern College baseball (19-17) secured a decisive 9–1 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University (8-27) on Friday night at J.M. 'Jake' Rubin Park. The Moccasins' pitching staff was dominant, striking out 17 batters while allowing only one run on six hits.
Ryan Jenkins initiated the game for FSC by drawing a walk, setting the stage for an early scoring opportunity.
Eric Harrison Jr. singled to right, allowing Jenkins to advance to third.
Carson Brady grounded out but secured an RBI as Jenkins crossed home plate. The score was tied 1–1 at the end of the first inning.
In the third inning, Jenkins once again reached base with a walk and later advanced to third on a wild pitch. Brady singled to drive in Jenkins, and
Will Burke followed with a single to bring Harrison Jr. home. The Moccasins led 3–1 after three innings.
Florida Southern extended its lead in the seventh inning. Harrison Jr. singled and was driven in by Burke's RBI single.
Brock Budacki added another RBI single, making the score 5–1 through seven innings.
The eighth inning saw FSC continue its scoring.
Mikey Scott reached base on a walk and came home on a single by
Cory Filley, increasing the lead to 6–1.
In the ninth inning, Budacki singled and was replaced by pinch runner
TJ Eckert.
Brady Doorey, pinch hitting, singled as well. Jenkins then hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Eckert. Scott added an RBI single, and
Eli Thurmond scored on a wild pitch to cap the inning. Florida Southern secured the victory with a final score of 9–1 over PBA.
Sachem Ramos delivered a strong performance on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while allowing just one earned run. Burke contributed offensively with two hits and two RBIs.
Casey O'Dell was effective in relief, pitching 2.2 innings of no-hit baseball and recording five strikeouts. Budacki made an impact with three hits and one RBI.
Tanner Quick closed the game, facing only one batter and retiring him efficiently to secure the win.
Looking ahead, the Mocs are set to face the Sailfish in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at J.M. "Jake" Rubin Park in West Palm Beach, Florida.
