CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Florida Southern College men's track team sent six Moccasins to compete in Cleveland, Tenn. at the Lee University – Fast Break Athletics Invitational. FSC competed in two events Friday as senior
Aiden Redmond competed in the 1,500m while the rest of the Mocs saw action in the 5,000m. Junior
Christian Giller turned in the third-fastest 5,000m time in program history.
Redmond was the first Moc on the track as he took 16
th in the 1,500m while posting the fifth-fastest time this season for FSC at 3:53.60.
The 5K group was up next with Giller leading the way in 11
th overall with a career-best mark of 14:26.18. Classmate
Chris Colavita was next to finish as he placed 21
st with the fifth-best time this season at 14:43.05. Just nine spots back was freshman
Eli Zuppa who crossed the line in 14:52.82 to take 30
th. His time was the eighth-best this season for FSC.
The final two Moccasins on the track were graduate student
Elijah De La Cerda and freshman
Andrew Nyland. De La Cerda finished inside the top-50 in 43
rd while clocking in at 15:13.41 while Nyland took 60
th at 15:32.33.
The Moccasins will now turn their focus to the inaugural Sunshine State Conference Outdoor Track Championships. The event will take place in Daytona Beach, Fla. at the Embry-Riddle Track & Field Complex on Saturday, April 19.
