Giller and Matthew Earn USTFCCCA Outdoor Track All-South Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Juniors Christian Giller and Anthony Matthew of the Florida Southern College men's track team were recently named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-South Region honorees. Giller earned the honor in the 10,000m for the second-straight season while Matthew picked up his first two career All-South Region honors in the 800m and 1,500m.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.

Giller is now a six-time All-South Region honoree when taking into account cross country (2x), indoor track (2x) and outdoor track (2x).  He competed in the 10,000m just twice during the 2025 season while posting the top two times for the program and just missing out on another school record. His time of 29:31.33 at the final meet of the season was just 17 hundredths of a second away from tying the program record set by Mason Jones (2018-22) during the 2022 season. The time also ranked second in the region behind Sam Wilhelm's (UAH) time of 28:34.48. Giller joins Jones as the only two Moccasins in program history to earn All-South Region honors in the 10,000m twice.

Matthew can now boast about being a five-time All-South Region honoree when taking into account cross country (1x), indoor track (2x) and outdoor track (2x). He also becomes the fifth individual in program history to earn two outdoor track all-region honors in the same season joining Chris Yanichko (5K/10K – 2014), Evan Quinones (800m/1,500m – 2016 & 2017), Mason Jones (5K/10K – 2018 & 2022) and Bobby Ormsby (1,500m/5K – 2018) on the list. Matthew's school record performance in the 800m of 1:49.95 set at the South Florida Invitational ranked second in the region behind Gabe McConville's (Tampa) time of 1:49.08 ran at the same meet. His second school record of the season came in the 1,500m at the Florida Pepsi Relays where he posted a time of 3:46.89 which ranked fifth in the region. The top three performers all came from Lee as Jacob Hatcher had the top time at 3:44.59.
