Mocs Baseball Finish 2025 #15 in NCBWA DII Poll

Jun 11, 2025

WINGATE, N.C. – The Florida Southern College baseball team finished the 2025 season ranked No. 15 in the final top 25 Division II poll by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), announced June 11.

Florida Southern ranked in the top 25 for a majority of the 2025 season by the NCBWA, ranked as high as No. 4 and most recently No. 10 at the start of the 2025 South Regional tournament. The University of Tampa finished No. 1 in the final NCBWA poll, winning the 2025 national championship over No. 2 University of Central Missouri.

The Moccasins had a turnaround year in 2025, finishing with a 38-15-1 overall record and hosting duties for the NCAA DII South Region #2 bracket. In his first year with the Mocs, head coach Rick O'Dette earned national recognition as the DII Coach of the Year by Perfect Game, leading FSC with eight All-Sunshine State Conference selections, two All-South Region award winners, and an All-American.

With a 20-9-1 record, Florida Southern finished second in the SSC standings behind the Tampa Spartans. The Mocs were the only team in the conference to win a series over the No. 1 team, winning 2-1 in the three-game series. FSC opened the season with a series win over then-No. 14 University of West Florida, later losing in the South Region #2 title game to the Argonauts, who finished No. 10 in the DII poll. Despite the NCAA tournament outcome, the Mocs won games against the University of West Alabama and Delta State University, the first regional wins for FSC since the 2018 season.

With a new team to work with, O'Dette had a great 2025 roster, culminating with ABCA All-American Grant Thoroman, who led the team in batting average and RBI. Mikey Scott was another key figure, earning ABCA All-South honors in the outfield, joining Noah Rabin as an All-conference selection. Ahmad Fitts, serving as DH, infield, or outfield player won All-SSC First Team honors as a utility player, leading the team in home runs. Other all-conference winners included starting pitchers Sachem Ramos and Logan Adams for a pitching staff ERA of 4.89. All-defensive team winners included catcher Cory Filley and fielders Thoroman and Rohsean Riley.

As a team, the Mocs were one of the best in the nation in stolen bases, finishing 2025 with 230 stolen bags. FSC smashed its previous program record of SB in a single season (previously 167), led by shortstop Jevin Relaford with 68 SB. Relaford set a new program record in season total and career total as the fastest player in Moccasin history. Overall as the best season since 2018, O'Dette and his coaching staff will look for another big year for the Mocs set in 2026.
