MELBOURNE, Fla. – Just seven points outside of a tie for first, the Florida Southern women's cross country team was predicted to finish third overall according to the Sunshine State Conference cross country coaches with the release of the 2025 SSC Preseason Coaches Poll.
Tampa and Nova Southeastern tied at the top of the poll with 59 total points. Tampa led the way with five first-place votes while Nova Southeastern received four. Florida Southern finished just seven points back with 52 while Palm Beach Atlantic picked up a fourth-place prediction with 41 points. The rest of the poll featured Embry-Riddle (39 pts./5
th), Lynn (28 pts./6
th), Barry (21 pts./7
th), Saint Leo (17 pts./8
th) and Eckerd (8 pts./9
th).
Tampa will host the 2025 SSC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 25, at Holloway Park in Lakeland. NCAA Division II regional competition will be on Saturday, November 8 at Holloway Park. Florida Southern will host the South Regional. The National Championship is on Saturday, November 22, at Wayne E. Danehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wis.
The Florida Southern women's cross country team will look a little different in 2025 as the Moccasins are without four of their top five finishers from last year's SSC Championships. Juniors
Emma Pfeiffer and
Grace Reed are the top two returners for the Mocs who placed third and sixth on the squad at last year's event. The Mocs also added eight new faces to the 2025 squad and the opening event of the season is just over two weeks away as FSC competes at the Swan City Invitational in Lakeland at Holloway Park on Saturday, Sept. 6.
