KENOSHA, Wis. – The Florida Southern College women's cross country team faced its toughest task of the young season as the Moccasins traveled to Kenosha, Wis. to compete in the Lucian Rosa Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin Parkside. The course will also serve as the 2025 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship course later this season. FSC finished ahead of fellow Sunshine State Conference member Embry-Riddle as FSC finished 19
th in the 23-team field, followed by ERAU in 20
th.
Junior
Grace Reed led the way for the Moccasins as she placed 50
th overall in the 6K event. Reed crossed the finish in 22:38.75 to lead the way for FSC. Senior
Rachel Hockenberry was next to cross the finish as she took 95
th in 23:18.05. Sophomore
Alena Pezzoli and junior
Emma Pfeiffer were the next two Mocs to complete the course. The pair finished within 12 spots of one another. Pezzoli finished in 120
th while Pfeiffer came across in 132
nd. Pezzoli clocked in at 23:46.67 while Pfeiffer crossed the line in 23:46.67.
The final scorer for the Mocs was senior
Caitlin Beery who came across 15 spots behind Pfeiffer in 147
th. Beery traversed the course in 24:10.43 to earn the fifth spot on the team. Freshman
Kara Simard just missed out on the scoring five as she placed 158
th and 12 seconds behind Beery at 24:22.85. Fellow freshman
Jane Haight was the final Moccasin across the line as she took 175
th after stopping the clock at 24:56.96.
The Moccasins will now turn their focus to the 26th Annual FLRunners.com Invitational which will take place in Lakeland on Friday, Oct. 3 at 8:45 a.m.
