Dr. Victoria Lew Named Florida Southern College Faculty Athletics Representative

LAKELAND, Fla. – Victoria Lew, Ph.D. has been named Florida Southern College's Faculty Athletics Representative, college President Dr. Jeremy P. Martin announced. Dr. Lew has been at Florida Southern since August of 2022 serving first as an assistant professor of Industrial/Organizational Psychology before moving into the role of Director of the Master's in Industrial Organizational Psychology Program.

Before returning to Florida Southern, Dr. Lew spent seven years at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she completed both her master's and doctoral degrees in Human Factors and Behavioral Neurobiology. During that time, she taught as an adjunct professor, received the RADM Fred Lewis I/ITSEC Postgraduate Scholarship, and was honored with the ERAU Human Factors Department Outstanding Service Award. Her scholarly work has resulted in more than 30 academic presentations and eight publications, with additional publications forthcoming.

Dr. Lew's connection to Florida Southern College runs deep. A proud Moccasin, Dr. Lew earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Florida Southern in 2015, with minors in biology and music. As an undergraduate student, she was recognized with the Spirit of the Cornerstone Award, one of the College's highest honors, for exemplifying its core values of integrity and community.

Reflecting on her appointment, Dr. Lew said:
"Florida Southern has always been home for me, and I am deeply honored to serve as Faculty Athletics Representative. I am passionate about supporting our student-athletes, who inspire me with their dedication both in competition and in the classroom. In this role, I look forward to advocating for their success, ensuring their well-being, and helping them thrive as students, athletes, and leaders."

The Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) serves as the bridge between a college's academic and athletic programs. This NCAA-mandated role ensures that student-athletes receive the full benefit of their education by upholding academic integrity, advocating for their well-being, and promoting a healthy balance between athletic competition and academic success. The FAR also represents the institution in both conference and NCAA matters.
