MELBOURNE, Fla. — Florida Southern women's basketball (12-2, 6-1 SSC) defeated Florida Tech (4-11, 1-7 SSSC), 72-52, at the Clemente Center. FSC dominated early, building a 22-8 lead in the first quarter and maintaining control throughout the game.
Gianna Vos led the team with tying her career-high of 15 points, converting 6 of 12 field goals.
Sydney Gomes recorded her fifth double-double of the year, collecting 15 rebounds and adding 13 points. She also contributed six assists and three steals.
Carlota Gomez Alonso scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and secured five rebounds.
Monica Balistrere added 11 points, made five field goals, and posted four assists.
Florida Southern began the first quarter with a strong offensive performance, taking an early lead with Balistrere's layup at 9:14. The team capitalized on defensive rebounds and successful scoring drives, including a significant contribution from Gomez Alonso, who hit two 3-pointers during the quarter.
The Moccasins maintained momentum by converting fast-break opportunities and securing points in the paint. They extended their advantage with a 9-0 run midway through the quarter, highlighted by Gomez Alonso's additional 3-pointer at 3:13. FSC closed the quarter leading 22-8, setting a confident tone for the rest of the game.
Florida Southern began the second quarter with a strong defensive performance, forcing the Panthers into five turnovers while collecting four steals. Gomes capitalized on a turnover with a fast-break layup at 3:12, extending the lead significantly. The Moccasins' effective offensive execution included a balanced attack in the paint, contributing to a 12–6 advantage in that area. They also demonstrated efficiency from the free-throw line, converting six of seven attempts.

FSC started the third quarter with an assertive approach, extending their lead by scoring 12 points in the paint. Despite the Panthers' attempts to close the gap with a few successful layups and a three-pointer, the Mocs maintained control. Gomes added a three-pointer at 1:17, helping the Moccasins secure a solid position. The quarter concluded with FSC leading 62–32, demonstrating a strong defensive and offensive performance.
In the fourth quarter, the Panthers capitalized on turnovers to score eight points directly from FSC miscues. The Moccasins responded with an assertive presence in the paint, matching Florida Tech's eight points in that area. The period featured Gomes providing key defensive rebounds, aiding in the transition that resulted in scoring opportunities for
Lily Randgaard and
Arantxa Concepcion. Despite Florida Tech's efforts, including a three-pointer by Deirdre Miller in the final minutes, FSC maintained control. The game concluded with the Moccasins securing a 72-52 victory, demonstrating effective defensive stops and scoring efficiency in the closing minutes.
