OCALA, Fla. - The Florida Southern College men's swimming team finished in fourth place at the end of the 2026 Sunshine State Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon at the FAST Center.
The Moccasins finished the 2026 championship with 499.5 points, highlighted by two SSC event titles on the final day of competition. The University of Tampa won the SSC Championship with 893 points, followed by Nova Southeastern University in second with 605 points, and Lynn University in third with 554 points.
The evening finals opened with an exciting 1650 free gold medal for
Peter Csicsaky with a time of 15:25.73. It was the second-best time in program history and the first time since 2019 (third overall) that a Moc won the mile swim.
Thomas Wooldridge was in the same heat, finishing in sixth overall with a time of 16:04.58. In the 100 free,
Matheus Da Rocha and
Will Neville went back-to-back, with Da Rocha securing a third-place podium spot with a time of 43.64 and Neville in fourth with 43.91. In the B final,
Daniel Meszaros was third in 44.43 and
Nino Viallon fifth with a time of 44.53.
Simeon Prosinski took part in the 200 breaststroke A final, finishing in third place with a time of 1:58.59 for bronze.
Cormac McKenney was in the B final and finished sixth in the consolation final with a time of 2:04.15. The final event of the championships was the 400 free relay as the A team won gold with a time of 2:54.25, breaking a new SSC meet record. Viallon led off for the Mocs, followed by Da Rocha, Meszaros, and Neville.
In prelims, Da Rocha had a great swim in the 100 free, coming in second with a time of 43.47. Neville was fourth in the morning session with a time of 43.88. Meszaros made the B final with a time of 44.87, as Viallon had to engage in a swim-off for an evening invite, beating his opponent to make the B final.
For the 200 back morning heats, the Mocs had a 21st and 22nd place finish as
Tyler King and
Bennett Baer took part.
William Eriksson and
Jeremiah Goodwin also represented FSC with top 30 morning times in the 200. Prosinski was the sole Moc to make the 200 breast A final after a morning time of 2:00.62. McKenny had a B final cut of 2:04.69, with other strong morning swims by
Reese Whelan, Cooper Krance, and
Tristan Clanton.
Tyler King took part in the morning heat of the mile swim, finishing with a time of 16:17.49.
Daniel Cushing was another participant with a time of 16:30.19.
The Mocs will prepare for the NCAA Championships, which will take place Tuesday, March 10th - Saturday, March 14th at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Ind. The NCAA will announce championship selections and seeding on Wednesday, February 25
th.
