EVANSVILLE, Fla. – The NCAA Division II Swimming Championships are underway as the Florida Southern College men's swimming team finished ninth overall on opening night at the Deaconess Aquatic Center.
The Mocs swam in the only event of the night, the 800 free relay, securing 18 points for ninth place with a time of 6:28.43. The University of Tampa is the current leader after one event, setting a record 6:16.64.
Florida Southern had a team of
Daniel Meszaros, Will Neville, Simeon Prosinski, and
Peter Csicsaky take part in the 200-yard splits. Meszaros was first up with a 1:36.05 200 split, followed by Neville in 1:37.68, Prosinski in 1:37.23, and Csicsaky in the final 200 of 1:37.47. They finished with a time of 6:28.43, faster than their seeded time and second-best in program history.
The Mocs will start a full day of swimming tomorrow, March 11, as FSC competes in the 200 IM, 50 free, 1000 free, and 200 medley relay. Prelims begin at 11 a.m., and the finals will be at 6:30 p.m., all at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville.
