BROOKESVILLE, Fla. - The No. 12 Florida Southern women's golf team opened the first round of the Sunshine State Conference Championship tied-sixth with a 27-over 315.
The Mocs were led by Clare Gimpel, who currently sits in the top 10 at tied-sixth. Gimpel shot a 4-over opening round of 76, with two birdies in the round.
Kaley Amuso sits tied-18th, two strokes off Gimpel. The senior shot a 76 and carded a birdie in the opening round.
Ava La Belle sits tied-29th with an 8-over 80. She carded three birdies. McKinley Holding is one stroke off La Belle with a 9-over 81.
Taylor Zachary rounds out the Moccasin lineup, sitting tied-43rd. She carded three birdies in the opening round.
Nova Southeastern currently leads the field with a 14-over 302, with Maria Torres Lobato in the individual lead, shooting a 1-under 71.
