The Miami Hurricanes received two strong performances off the bench on their way to an 85-52 exhibition win over the Moccasins Monday night at Coral Gables.
Freshman Durand Scott scored a game-high 17 points and added five assists and five steals, while senior Adrian Thomas tossed in 12 points. Cyrus McGowan was the lone Hurricane starter to score in double figures, as he picked up 14 points.
Brandon Jenkins led the Moccasins with 14 points, including four three-pointers, but no one else had more than seven points. John Thompson was FSC's top rebounder with seven.
Miami had a 40-25 advantage at halftime and kept the margin in double figures throughout the second half. The Hurricanes had a 52-36 rebounding advantage and outscored FSC 15-2 from the free throw line. The Moccasins went to the line just twice and made both attempts. Miami was 15 of 22.
The Moccasins open their 2009-10 season Nov. 18 at Jenkins Field House against Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras.
