Lady Mocs' Win Streak At 10 To Start 2010

LAKELAND - FSC's final athletic event of 2009 came in the form of an 84-55 win for the Lady Mocs over New York Tech Wednesday night at Jenkins Field House.

Michaela Hawley and Nicolle DiRaimo combined for 38 points and 18 rebounds as the Moccasins rolled to their 10th straight win. Hawley matched her season high with 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her second double-double this season and the fifth of her career. DiRaimo added 14 points and eight rebounds. Chelsea Johnson tossed in 15 points and Danielle Walsh contributed a career-high 10 rebounds, as the Moccasins improved to 10-1 on the season.

FSC's 10-game winning streak matches its longest since the 1997-98 team produced a pair of 10-game winning streaks during that season.

New York Tech (2-7) was able to stay with the Moccasins for the first 11 minutes and had the game tied at 19-19 with 8:42 left in the first half. However, Hawley's basket with 8:25 to go in the half started a 24-9 run that gave FSC an insurmountable halftime lead of 43-28.

The Moccasins enjoyed their biggest lead of 65-35 with 12:19 left in the game and the Bears got no closer than 24 points the rest of the game.

Madison Robertson led NYIT with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

FSC resumes Sunshine State Conference action Saturday at Jenkins Field House with a doubleheader against Florida Tech. The women’s game tips off at 5:30 p.m., with the men's game to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on the internet on SportsLine Radio Network (SLRN).
