ATLANTA, Ga. – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced its NCAA Division II award winners for the 2025-26 season, with Florida Southern College women's basketball senior Sydney Gomes earning WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches' All-America honorable mention recognition.
Gomes becomes the 12th All-American in program history, joining an elite group that includes Anja Fuchs-Robetin, Emma Cannon, Camille Giardina, and, most recently, Julia Jenike (2021-22). She is one of three representatives from the Sunshine State Conference named to the honorable mention list, joined by Emma Egan and Ieva Korzane of Eckerd College.
The Ponte Vedra, Florida native powered the Moccasins to a 23-8 overall record and a 15-5 mark in SSC play, leading the team on both ends of the floor. She most recently earned First Team All-Region honors, solidifying her place among the South Region's elite and Division II's top standouts.
Gomes played a pivotal role in guiding Florida Southern to its first SSC Championship game appearance in four years, earning Sunshine State Conference All-Tournament Team honors. She scored 58 points across three tournament contests, including 12 against Tampa, 22 against Eckerd, and 24 against Nova Southeastern, helping propel the Mocs to the title game.
The 5-foot-8 guard capped one of the most decorated seasons in program history by earning SSC Player of the Year, All-SSC First Team, and All-Defensive Team honors. She became just the 12th player in program history to be named SSC Player of the Year and the first since the 2018-19 season.
Gomes averaged 18.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 35.8 minutes per game this season, ranking second in the conference in all three categories. She shot 45 percent from the field and 34 percent from beyond the arc while serving as the steady leader behind the Mocs' success.
A five-time SSC Player of the Week and one-time Defensive Player of the Week selection, Gomes earned her second career All-SSC honor after receiving second-team recognition in 2024-25. During the 2025-26 campaign, she recorded her third career triple-double, surpassed 1,000 career points, 500 career rebounds, and 300 career assists, and set the Florida Southern single-game assist record with 15.
In her last season as a Moccasin, Gomes shot 45.9 percent from the field and 33.9 percent from three-point range while averaging 18.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. She concluded her career having totaled 568 points and 244 rebounds during the 2025-26 season alone, cementing her legacy as one of the most accomplished players in program history.
