Box Score
Showing no signs of a letdown after clinching the Sunshine State Conference regular season title Wednesday night, the league champion Moccasins downed Nova Southeastern 77-67 in the regular season finale at Ft. Lauderdale Saturday in a game that was not as close as the final score might indicate.
The Moccasins, now 22-4, scored the game’s first six points and never trailed in the game. They led by 17 at halftime, 47-30, and by at least 17 throughout most of the second half until Nova had a 13-4 run in the final five minutes of the game to get the final margin to 10.
FSC finishes the regular season with a 14-2 SSC mark. That’s the Moccasins’ best SSC record since the 1995-96 team went 12-2 in the league and the 14 wins matches their most league wins ever. The 1994-95 team also had 14 wins, going 14-0.  Nova finished 14-12 overall, 6-10 in the SSC.
The win was the Moccasins' seven straight, matching their longest winning streak of the season.
Chelsea Johnson led the Moccasins in her final regular season game with 17 points, five assists and three steals. Her 17 points put her over the 1,900 mark in career points. She now has 1,912.
The only real suspense in the second half was whether Emma Cannon could continue her streak of double-doubles. With less than a minute left in the game, she had 16 points and nine rebounds, but with 34 seconds left she rebounded her own missed shot for her 10th rebound to extend her streak of consecutive double-doubles to 10 straight games and 18 for the season.
Megan Dzikas tossed in 13 points and Sofie Lundberg added 10 off the bench, marking the seventh time this season she has scored in double figures off the bench. Stephanie Sarosi led the Sharks with 19 points and 16 rebounds.
The Moccasins will begin play in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Wednesday night at 5:30 in a first-round game at Jenkins Field House against Barry. The Buccaneers beat Saint Leo 62-49 in their final regular season game to finish at 12-14, 5-11 in the SSC. The Moccasins won both regular season games over Barry, 65-53 on the road and 60-50 at FSC.
