Mocs Give Tigers A Battle, But Fall 5-3

After falling behind 3-0 in the doubles competition, the Moccasins gave Ouachita Baptist a battle before dropping a 5-3 decision Tuesday at the FSC Courts.

Three of the five singles matches played went to three sets and the other two required a first-set tiebreaker.

Ouachita Baptist won in straight sets at No. 4 singles to go up 4-0, before the Moccasins rallied.

Ivan Marevic lost his first set, 2-6, then came back to win the next two, 7-5, 6-3, to claim a win at No. 3 singles.  Carl Lundberg won in straight sets at No. 5 to trim the Tigers' lead to 4-2.  That improved his team-best singles record to 9-4 for the season.

Helge Knuth clinched the match for OBU with a three-set win at No. 2, before Benoit Paradis gave the Moccasins a final point with a 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) win over Mark Boskovic at No. 1 singles.

OBU, ranked 22nd in Division II, improved to 7-2.  The Moccasins, ranked 23rd, slipped to 7-9.

The Moccasins are right back in action Wednesday with a 3 p.m. match against New York Tech on the FSC Courts.
