Mocs Cruise Past Villanova

Playing their only Division I opponent of the season, the Moccasins defeated Villanova 8-1 Tuesday afternoon on FSC Courts. With the win the Moccasins improve to 3-4 overall while Villanova falls to 0-4.

The No.1 doubles team of Sabine Goge and Magda Riutort got the match off to a good start with an 8-1 win. Joalis Dominguez and Jessica Cove teamed up for the first time this season and picked up an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Christie Nunnemann and Laura Wichmann completed the Mocs' sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.

The Moccasins won the first three singles matches, including a 6-2, 6-1 win for Copeland at No. 6 singles that clinched the win for the Moccasins. It was Copeland's first singles win of the season. Ruitort ran her team-best singles record to 6-2 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Allison Solberg. Goge, Dominguez, and Nunnemann all won in straight sets.

The Moccasins will return to action Friday when they host NAIA rival Embry-Riddle at 2 p.m. on FSC Courts.
