Panthers Spoil Mocs Regular Season Finale

Florida Tech spoiled the Moccasins' final regular season match, taking a 6-3 decision over the Moccasins Wednesday at the FSC Courts.

The Panthers, ranked 24th in Division II, won two of the three doubles matches, including an 8-5 win at No.1 by the 12th-ranked team of Katarina and Kristina Huba over the Moccasins’ 14th-ranked team of Magda Riutort and Sabine Goge.

FSC picked up a singles win from Joalis Dominguez at No. 3 to even the match at 2-2, but the Panthers posted three straight wins at No. 4, No. 6 and No. 2 to claim the match.

The clinching win at No. 2 singles came when Goge had to withdraw due to an injury after she and Kristina Huba had each won a set.

Florida Tech improved to 16-6 overall, 4-4 in the SSC.  The Moccasins finished the regular season at 10-9, 3-5 in the SSC.

The Sunshine State Conference Tournament begins Apr. 19 and will be played at the Beerman Tennis Center on Edgewood Drive in Lakeland.  Barry is the host school.
