At the Florida Blue Sunshine State Conference Tennis Championship, the Moccasin women finished their back draw match with Florida Tech that was suspended due to rain Saturday, posting a 5-2 win Sunday.
Leading 3-2 when the match was suspended Saturday, the Moccasins got a straight-set win from Sabine Goge at No. 2 singles to go up 4-2, then Magda Riutort clinched the victory with a three-set win over 19th-ranked Katarina Huba, 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 6-2, at No. 1 singles.
The win would have sent the Moccasins to the fifth-place match, but the fifth and seventh place matches were canceled.
The Moccasins are now 11-10 and will wait to find out if they will be selected for the NCAA Division II Tournament. The selections for the Women's Division II Tennis Tournament will be made Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. and can be seen at www.ncaa.com.
