LAKELAND - Florida Southern pushed its win streak to four straight matches here Friday afternoon as the 20th-ranked Moccasins rolled to a 9-0 shutout victory over Bentley in non-conference action at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center on the FSC campus.
With Friday's victory, the Mocs improved to 6-5 on the season, while Bentley, who is from Waltham, Mass., fell to 5-5 on the season.
The Mocs, who were playing their fourth match in six days, used a different line-up on Friday and that lineup change worked as they Mocs did not drop a set as they won all its singles matches in straight sets and allowed just four points to Bentley in doubles.
In Friday's match, the Mocs opened by winning all three doubles matches, including junior Victoria Spagnuolo (Andover, Mass.) and sophomore Christie Nunnemann (St. Simmons Island, Ga.) winning 8-0 at the No. 3 spot.
Meanwhile, in the singles play, the Mocs did not play junior Sabine Goge (Cesis, Latvia) and Nunnemann, who normally plays the No. 4 spot, switched and played at No. 2 and Spagnuolo, who plays primarily at No. 5, played at the No. 3 spot. In their spots, junior Crystal Copeland (Marietta, Ga.) played at the No. 4, while sophomore Pamela Paradis (Quebec City, Quebec) played at No. 5 and freshman Andrea Loret de Mola (Lakeland, Fla.) saw her first action of the season at the No. 6 spot.
In singles play, the Mocs picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 3, 4 and 5 spots, while sophomore Magda Riutort (Petra, Spain) won her fifth straight match at the No. 1 spot with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Bentley's Ludmila Yamus. Loret de Mola won 8-7 (10-7) at the No. 6 spot and Nunnemann picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2.
The Mocs will now take 10 days off before returning to action on March 25 with a home match against Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras.
